Project Description
Pacy and Wheatley are pleased to complete another Healthcare Refurbishment for Barchester Healthcare in Billingham, Teesside as part of our continuous success in conducting their nationwide framework to refurbish their existing stock. The project comprised of an extensive renovation across two individual buildings on the Site forming the Care Home. The refurbishment included alterations to the reception areas and communal spaces and the structural alterations to form 4 new bedrooms, increasing the Clients sales capacity. The finished product provided upgrades and modernisation to, new floor coverings, renewed decorative features, ceramic tiling to all wet rooms and plumbing and electrical elements throughout, to enhance the Care Home’s aesthetic appeal for the future.
The Challenge
The Home remained fully functioning, throughout our works, therefore, courtesy was ensured to all Residents, Staff and Visitors - with the requirement of minimal disruption to the running of the care facilities and services.
During our progress on site, it was discovered that certain existing floors were structurally defective and unsafe and required replacement, due to the buildings age. The quick observations of the Site Team ensured that the issues were dealt with quickly to avoid any potential delay in the project’s handover.
The Solution
A detailed schedule of works was provided and followed to ensure all parties were aware of the programme and objectives of the works.
Weekly and monthly management progress meetings were held, with the Home’s management team and facilities management team, to guarantee all parties were well-informed of the continued actions on Site and intended areas of work each day/week.
Key Achievements
Through close collaboration from the site team, appointed sub-contractors and the care home’s staff, our works were able to finish on programme, providing a fully renovated Home of high-quality meeting the employers requirements and expectations.
