Project Description
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service appointed Pacy and Wheatley to complete a healthcare refurbishment project at one of their stations in Whitby. The project involved the construction of a single storey extension to the existing Station and the re-siting and fitting of additional accommodation and storage for the emergency service. A detailed renovation and re-finishing was carried out across the station, with associated external works.
The Challenge
The Ambulance Station remained in full operation whilst the works were carried out.
Very close liaison with the service whilst on site is essential to ensure the day to day ‘life saving’ service remains efficient and unhindered in serving the public.
The project was on a busy and small site so our planning in terms of material deliveries, timing and planning of trade works and within the specific rooms/areas was key to the success of this scheme.
The Solution
Close liaison and cooperation with the Station Manager and Estates Team meant we planned, coordinated and ensured safety was maintained during the works. This enabled the site and all operations could continue to be functioning and efficient throughout our works.
The project was completed within the allocated time period of the programme and within budget.
