Project Description
Pacy and Wheatley completed an Interior Refurbishment project in Stoke-on-Trent; the works consisted of full redecorations to all circulation corridors, new automatic entrance door operators and entrance lobby decorations, new kitchen units and worktops to the existing dining rooms, bathroom & shower room total refurbishments, refurbishment of the hair salon and new first floor corridor doors.
The Challenge
All circulation corridors and dining areas were to be refurbished as part of the works – potentially disrupting the residents.
Parts of the home are for dementia sufferers and the nature of the works meant regular access from the main areas of the home into these areas to complete potentially noisy works to refurbish existing bathrooms.
Programme was strictly to be adhered to due to the arrangements made to consider the areas of works and the need to have the facility improvements in place Pre-Christmas.
The Solution
Close communication with the care home manager and staff on a daily, sometimes hourly, basis was key to the successful completion of the works.
A concise programme of works was developed and agreed with the home, prior top works commencing. This showed key dates and milestones to allow the homes to plan for any potential disruptions and make other arrangements to maintain the services for the end users.

Delivering improvements to the service within budget allowances and on time.
Working with the design team and client to consider alternative products and methods of construction ensured the scheme went ahead for the required budget.
Well managed site resulted in zero reportable accidents. We successfully presented our client with a high standard of finish despite the tight programme. This was achieved by good site management, conscientious contractors and working out of hours to ensure standards could be maintained.
Works completed to a high standard of quality and workmanship to the satisfaction of our client.
