Project Description

Pacy & Wheatley Construction have been appointed on a Design and Build New Build Care Home for our repeat client Minster Care Group in Ely, Cambridgeshire, after the successful completion of the site Duncote Hall, near Northampton. The new project consists of constructing a detached new build 21-bed Care Home with a link walkway across to the existing Home. The demolition of unused buildings and a summer house along one side of the land. The works also involved external alterations; including an additional car park, landscaping and fencing around the perimeter of the Home.

The Challenge

Initial challenges that the project has faced from the outset are as follows;

The Home remained open for the entirety of our works. The utmost care and consideration has been illustrated by our Site team to ensure minimal disruption is caused to the service provided by the Care Home.

The Site's entrance driveway is relatively narrow with little room to manoeuvre. This will mean that restrictions have reflected upon which delivery wagons can be accepted and a just in time philosophy approach has been adopted.

Adjacent to the Site is a Primary School; therefore, the welfare of the children has continued to be at the forefront of our work.

Tree protection and the protection of existing historic air raid shelters is also required which have added to the tightness of the site and buildability.
