Project Description

The main section of the project will comprise of a standalone new build 30-bed care home adjacent to that of the existing care facility. The construction will be built upon strip foundations, with beam and block flooring, a timber frame structure with masonry façade, pitched roof and uPVC windows. The internals of the build will include full installation of mechanical and electrical systems, tertiary elements comprising of floor coverings, decorating and ceramic tiling, alongside the formation of a courtyard garden and landscaping. The interiors include an assisted bath, nurse stations, kitchen/servery, dining and day care areas.

The project is being phased to ensure the operational and day to day activities and services of the home remain available and unaffected during the build period.

The Challenge

The adjacent Care Home will remain fully operational throughout the project; therefore, careful planning, cooperation and consideration will be necessary from all parties to ensure the project and healthcare services are not affected.

A traffic management scheme will be necessary to minimise any potential of disruption or congestion upon the nearby area as a result of our works and the busy main road to the site entrance, which is near a school and community facility.

The works include the diversion of existing sewers and services that are crossing the site, consequently, early contact and coordination with the statutory service authorities will be essential, to ensure project target dates are met.
