In Remembrance of David Wheatley
David Agar Wheatley, the outpouring of love and affection received through letters, cards, calls, and texts has been overwhelming. Knowing that Dad had so many people around him who thought the world of him underpins the great chap he was, his extraordinary life, and the type of father he was.
He began his career at Derek Websters as a trainee plumber before moving to a company called Harlow and Milner, attending Doncaster Tech and doing woodwork and construction. At this time, Dad also met a chap who would influence his life – Mr John Pacy.
They started working together, forming a limited company in 1968, recalling that the company’s naming was decided on the toss of a coin, ‘Pacy & Wheatley.’
Managing Director
Anthony Wheatley
Anthony started his career with Pacy & Wheatley early, during the school summer holidays. Working predominantly within the company’s own joinery workshop, machining and assembling doors and windows together with labouring duties on site. During this time, he obtained a good grounding in aspects of the industry and ultimately decided on his career path.
After studying at Trent Polytechnic for three years, successfully gaining an HND in Building Studies, he continued his industry placement with Norwest Holst as a Site Engineer. In 1993, Anthony moved to Pacy & Wheatley as a Contract Coordinator and progressed to Estimator, with other responsibilities in company accounts, planning and estimating functions. He gained his Directorship in 1996 and was promoted to Managing Director in 2006. Anthony is a keen sailor, keeps fit at the local gym, plays tennis and is married with two children.
Director
Craig Wheatley
Craig came to the company at 18 in 1991 and he moved to head office in 2004, following earlier years as an apprentice carpenter from school at 16 in previous employment where he received a City and Guilds Accreditation. He worked onsite as a joiner and very quickly became interested in all aspects of construction. He later became a site manager, supervising substantial projects. He moved to head office in 2004 as a project manager as the company went from strength to strength with a number of large schemes completed successfully and repeat business being a great focus. In 2012 he decided to give our previous Acoustic offering a push and grow this area which he now heads up and developing Interiors and drylining into the group over the years as well as having many group duties.
Craig received his Directorship in 2005 and is highly respected among all employees, being a problem solver and ‘hands on’ type of person. Personal interests include sailing with the Enterprise Class Association, where he won the Junior National Sailing Championship. He continued to do exceptionally well in the National and Worldwide Enterprise class Championships and succeeded in 2019, winning the National Championships, which was a massive achievement. Craig is also a keen golfer and mixing in social circles.
Operations & Commercial Director
Nigel Chambers
Nigel is an experienced professional with almost 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Starting at Pacy & Wheatley in August 2016 as Operations and Commercial Manager, Nigel quickly gained the confidence of the Board of Directors. He was promoted to Director, becoming a Main Board Member in January 2018. Nigel’s background is in Quantity Surveying, gaining a BSc in Quantity Surveying at Leeds Metropolitan University. He has worked for several top-tier main contractors across a range of market sectors, working in residential, commercial, industrial and retail environments.
With a keen eye for efficiency and process with a purpose and a need to provide high-quality products, Nigel was brought in to head up the Commercial and Construction departments within a growing, family-owned and run business.
Operations and Commercial Director
Tim Scott
Tim is an experienced professional with over 35 years of experience in the construction industry. Starting at Pacy & Wheatley in February 2017 as Operations and Commercial Manager for the recently established Interiors Division, Tim quickly gained the confidence of the Board of Directors and was promoted to Director, becoming a Main Board Member in January 2019. Tim’s background is in Business Management, gaining an HND in Business Management at Doncaster Business School. He has worked for several top-tier Interior fit-out main contractors across a range of market sectors, working in retail, leisure and commercial environments.
Construction Director
Joe Ridgeway
Joe has a broad range of knowledge relating to the construction industry. He joined the company in 2006 with a project management & surveying background in Retail, Leisure and Care sector Refurbishments and led projects to the value of 7 million.
Recently promoted to Construction Director, he is a valuable team member with a ‘can do’ positive attitude. One of Joe’s long-term aims is to be accredited with MCIOB, which is nearing completion, being duly recognised as ‘ Student of the Year in 2018 by the CIOB’.
His outside activities include golfing, keeping fit and spending quality time with the family.
Project Director
Mark Scott
Mark started with the company in April 2014 as Project Manager, a leader in the industry for 37 years. This has brought great strength to the company, a reflection of Mark’s hard work, commitment, and loyalty.
Mark was later promoted to Project Director for the Interiors division, becoming a main board member in January 2022. Mark’s input and focus have enhanced the business and will help to support secure growth in the coming years.
In his spare time, Mark likes to play Golf, go on long walks in the Country, and read historical non-fiction books as well as donate and participate in a number of charitable causes.
Finance Manager
Lesley
Lesley joined Pacy & Wheatley in 2005 as the Finance Manager and is our longest-serving employee. Lesley’s role has evolved over the years, and she now works as the Finance and Office Manager, with a wealth of knowledge in accounting, providing support to all four divisions. Lesley became Company Secretary in May 2016 and a board member in 2017.
Lesley has a broad range of financial experience within the Construction Industry.
Lesley began her career at 16 at a Fastener Distributor GKN and has worked her way through various roles and a variety of sectors including Engineering and the motor trade industries amassing knowledge along the way.
In her spare time, she likes traveling and spending time with her ever-increasing family.
Board Adviser
Mike Rix
Mike consults in demanding organisations large and small. He has worked extensively in all sectors, public, private and voluntary. He has also worked with many global and UK businesses. His particular interests are in helping people and organisations deliver results that they might not otherwise achieve. He works mainly with Boards, senior management teams and individual executives as consultants and coaches. He currently holds three non-executive director positions with organisations from completely different sectors. He brings these different views, perspectives, and complete objectivity to creating and implementing the company’s strategies and plans.
Drylining Commercial & Operations Manager
Rick
Richard joined Pacy & Wheatley in 2019 as the Drylining Divisional Manager. Richard was targeted to set up a self-sufficient Drylining division within the group structure. This division is now established with a consistent annual turnover & profit. Richard stepped into the construction industry as an apprentice joiner in 1996. In 2007 Richard moved into Drylining where his career really progressed, gaining knowledge and experience achieving his NVQ Level 5 in Construction management and then being awarded his MCIOB from the Chartered Institute of builders. In Richard’s spare time, you’ll often find him on a cricket field or in the Lake District ticking off Wainwrights.
Projects Manager
Craig
Craig began his career at Pacy & Wheatley in 2017 as Site Supervisor before being promoted to Site Manager for the Construction Division. Craig now works as Projects Manager, working closely with the Construction Director to oversee a number of projects. In his spare time, Craig likes to play Golf and spend time with his children, whose interests include horse riding and karate.
HR Manager
Sarah
Sarah joined Pacy & Wheatley in 2022 as HR Manager. Sarah leads on all HR matters for the Group, working with the Senior Management team to ensure compliance and best practice. Sarah completed her CIPD level 5 in People Management in 2017 and has worked in HR for the last 11 years. Sarah is one of our Mental Health First Aiders and an advocate for workplace mental health and wellbeing. In her spare time, Sarah volunteers at her son’s swimming club, enjoys open water swimming, clothes shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.
Estimating Manager/Project QS
Alex
Alex is the Estimating Manager/Project QS for the Construction division, joining in 2015 as an apprentice. Alex’s responsibilities include take-offs, BQ production, costing of tenders, presenting to directors prior to submission and preparing tender documents for submission to clients.
Whilst working at P&W Alex has successfully completed his Level 3 NVQ, Level 3 & HNC Construction in the built environment and most recently achieved a 1st class honours degree at Sheffield Hallam University in Quantity Surveying.
In his spare time Alex loves spending time with his young family. He also loves football, especially the mighty Barnsley FC.
Construction Administrator
Sophie
Sophie joined the company in 2017 as Construction Administrator. Her role within Pacy & Wheately has evolved over the years, and Sophie works across all the divisions assisting with the Quality Management systems. Sophie is our Mates In Mind Champion, a Mental Health First Aider, and an advocate for workplace mental health and wellbeing. With this in mind, in her spare time, Sophie likes to unwind and lose herself in a good book, along with spending time with friends and family making memories. Sophie also enjoys holidays abroad and soaking up some sun when the British weather allows!

Lauren
Lauren joined the company in 2021 as Apprentice Estimator for the Interiors Division. Lauren was later promoted to the position of Assistant Estimator. In 2022, Lauren achieved her HND in Construction and The Built Environment. Alongside work, Lauren is currently working towards her degree in Quantity Surveying at Sheffield Hallam University. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys reading and socializing with friends.
Director of Acoustics
Dave
Dave joined the Pacy & Wheatley Acoustic Division in April 2021 as Commercial & Operations Manager, helping to support the continued growth & development of the Division. Dave has worked within the interior fitout industry at a senior level for many years, which has brought extensive knowledge & experience to the team.
Dave was recently promoted to Director of Acoustics in recognition of his strategic vision and leadership in driving commercial operations forward. He is a keen follower of sports generally and enjoys outdoor pursuits, including cycling & walking, along with spending his spare time with family & friends.
Acoustic Coordinator
Jack
Jack started in 2022 as Administrative Assistant in the Acoustics division. Jack is an integral part of the team, liaising between site-based staff and head office. Jack recently completed NVQ level 3 in Business Administration and is looking to gain accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider.
In his spare time, Jack likes going out and socialising with friends, listening to music and spending quality time with his son.
Quantity Surveyor
Charlotte
Charlotte started with the company in 2016 as an Apprentice Administrator in the Interiors Division after completing her A-levels. Charlotte was then promoted to the position of Quantity Surveyor. Charlotte has completed her HND in Construction and The Built Environment in 2022, achieving a pass with Distinction. Alongside work, Charlotte is currently working towards her BSc in Quantity Surveying at Sheffield Hallam University. In her spare time, Charlotte loves a spot of retail therapy, socializing with friends, and spending time with her family.

Joanne
Joanne joined Pacy & Wheatley in 2018 as Acoustic Quantity Surveyor. Joanne started out in the Construction industry as an Assistant PQS after gaining her BSc Quantity Surveying from Sheffield Hallam University in 1996. Joanne gained knowledge and experience working for a multinational consultancy firm, before taking time out to raise her family and focus on building her rental business. Returning to the industry in 2016, initially as a Buyer/Project Manager before joining the Acoustic division at Pacy & Wheatley, Joanne’s responsibilities include reviewing and preparing quotations and cost control of live projects.
In her spare time, Joanne enjoys getting out and about in her campervan, walking and spending time with her family and friends.
Design Manager
Tom
Tom Joined Pacy & Wheatley in 2022 as a Design and Build Co-Ordinator. Tom’s continued efforts, commitment and contributions then led to his promotion to Design Manager in 2023. Tom started out in the Construction industry as an Apprentice Joiner at the age of 16. He then later moved into the office and has over 12 years of experience in a design coordination role. Tom and his wife welcomed their first daughter to the world in 2023.
Quantity Surveyor
Josh
Josh joined Pacy & Wheatley in October 2019 as an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, quickly progressing to Quantity Surveyor. Josh gained a BSc in Quantity Surveying & Construction Commercial Management at Nottingham Trent University & is now close to racking up over 10 years, across various top-tier main contractors and a variety of sectors including commercial, residential & industrial.
In his spare time, Josh loves spending time with his young family. Weekends mainly revolve around football, whether it’s coaching the kids playing in their Saturday & Sunday leagues or Josh playing football himself. In between football and being a dad, Josh enjoys going to the gym & the occasional trip to the tattoo shop!

Shelby
Shelby’s career began in 2021 as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor for the Interiors division. This is Shelby’s first job since leaving school and completing her A-levels. Shelby’s confidence and knowledge have really grown over the last 2 years. Shelby is part way through her studies, working towards her level 4 qualification as a Construction Quantity Surveying Technician. Shelby hopes to continue learning new skills and progressing within the company. In her spare time, Shelby likes to socialize and go shopping with her friends as well as attending music concerts.

Steve
Steve joined the company in 2018 as a Site Manager, working his way into the role he occupies now as Project Manager. Steve brings an energy to the role, working well with clients, our contractors, and site teams. When he is not at work, Steve enjoys the outdoors and will be found climbing a mountain or camping in a forest. Steve is currently studying for his Level 5 in Operational and Department Leader course for the next step in his career.

Clare
Clare joined Pacy & Wheatley in 2022 and works in the Accounts team as Senior Accounts Assistant. Clare is a key member of the Accounts team and is looking to achieve further accreditation for her skills and experience. She has recently started studying for her CIMA (certificate in Business Accounting) qualification. Outside of work, Clare enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
