Project Description
Pacy & Wheatley are delighted to have been awarded and completed the contract to construct two New Retail ‘Pod’ Shop Units and the associated external hard landscaping, including forming a wildlife pond and decking areas. The new Retail Units form part of the overall master plan for the parks evolving infrastructure, located in the new courtyard being formed to the front of the Parks new 100 Bed Hotel. We have worked closely with Yorkshire Wildlife Park to develop the design and location of the project, together with the site logistics surrounding the build. Pacy & Wheatley are proud to be working with Yorkshire Wildlife Park, being both Doncaster Based Businesses, fulfilling both ‘Buy Local’ and Employment for the surrounding people and Businesses in the Doncaster area.
The Challenge
The Wildlife Park remained open to the public throughout the duration of this project. The safety of the public and the park staff was fundamental and always taken into full consideration with planned operations accordingly.
Site logistics around the client’s other adjacent construction and development works were also of focus during the build, with regular collaboration and coordination meetings held with others to ensure the overall project’s success.
A delayed start on-site date meant the delivery programme intent had to be shortened considerably.
The Solution & Key Achievements
Despite a very tight programme deadline date requirement (due to shops needing to be open for Christmas trade), initial delay to starting on site and then one set of the pod retail units unavailability for access (due to continuing hotel construction), P&W proactively programmed the new build to facilitate these changing requirements/areas and dates and were able to pull this one out of the bag, working out of hours and weekends collaboratively to meet the demands of the park. Congratulations to our site team and Supply Chain Partners who worked timelessly to the demanding schedule.
A quality scheme delivered on time and to budget.
The scheme design makes the pod shop environment seem very relaxing and is great for a leisurely day out.
