Care Home Construction, Cambridgeshire

The Pacy & Wheatley Construction team have completed work on Littleport Grange, a new build care home in Ely, Cambridgeshire, for our repeat client, Minster Care Group. Minster Care Group provide care homes to help their residents live a healthy, active and fulfilling life by providing a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment. This project came after the successful completion of our project in Northamptonshire for the client.

The project at Littleport Grange consisted of the construction of a new build care home for Minster Care Group. The new, 21-bed care home is located on the same site as an existing home. As part of the design, we included a covered walkway to the existing home, demolishing some unused buildings alongside one side of the land. The existing home remained open throughout the project. This added a significant element of challenge, but our site team took careful steps to ensure minimal disruption to the care services provided.

We also completed external alterations to the home as part of the project. Our team formed an additional staff car park, and new fencing was installed around the perimeter of the care home. Substantive hard landscaping, soft landscaping and the installation of a water feature added to the aesthetics of the home's exterior.

We overcame a number of challenges during the project. The entrance to the site was relatively narrow, which restricted the delivery vehicles which could be adopted on site. We adopted a "just in time" approach to our deliveries, and any large deliveries were discussed well in advance, which helped minimise any disruption to the care home's services.

The Littleport Grange care home was successfully completed for Minster Care Group, and looks great. The 21-bed care home now provides a stimulating environment for residents to live a healthy, active and fulfilling life. We even visited a local school and held an informative assembly for the students with the scheme's mascots, entertaining the primary school students and giving teachers and parents an insight into the project.
