Care Home Refurbishment in Hull

Pacy & Wheatley completed a care home refurbishment in Hull. It consisted of us refurbishing and extending the facility to create an 18-bed care home. The project included 3 single-storey extensions, as well as making connections to the rooflines and any interior spaces. We stripped out the interior, completed below-ground drainage and also made structural alterations. New electrical and mechanical installations were completed throughout and externally, we worked on a new garden area with fencing. Enhancements to the surrounding property were also provided.

The Challenge

Our healthcare construction company had to ensure that the neighbours were well informed throughout the process. We inspected the building early, informed of the design progression and tried to avoid late design issues.

Solutions and Key Achievements

We conducted a thorough survey of the building to find out if the structure, drainage and infrastructure were suited to the new interior layout. We identified issues, discussed them, and then re-designed it to ensure requirements were met. We worked with partners to ensure design portions, including electrical and mechanical work was noted early in the process

The scheme was filed under Considerate Constructors. We achieved good scores, and updated residents as the project took place in the middle of a housing estate. We were also working adjacent to a furniture store. Deliveries were made to suit busy conditions. We also had to include flood defences to vulnerable areas and the entrance.

This was our first project with Exemplar healthcare, and it was a success. We have since agreed to new projects with the company.
