We are pleased to have been a part of the recently completed new build extension, re-roof, façade treatments, and external works in line with the planning-approved drawings; the completed scheme looks great! It has been a pleasure to work closely with the design and construction team at Pacy & Wheatley Construction; we would recommend their expertise and can-do attitude for future projects.

Morgan Sindall Later Living (MSLL) have led the development of this project in partnership with The Council of the City of York (the landlord), the Universities Superannuation Scheme (the funder and building owner) and HC One (housing association and registered provider), culminating in the achievement of Practical Completion in November 2020. We are delighted to have reached this project milestone while working alongside our main contractor, Pacy & Wheatley (P&W).

Pacy & Wheatley Ltd were appointed as main contactor in November 2019 under a JCT design and build contract following a very competitive tender and due diligence process by ourselves to carry out a new 11000 sq ft warehouse extension. This also included alterations and upgrades to the existing manufacturing facility, including mechanical and electrical services and associated external concrete yards, drainage and landscaping works.

Eldred Group
‘The Project was finished on time and to agreed budget’. The Project involved working within our existing and busy site, which is also located close to a residential area; Pacy & Wheatley sought to minimise disruption to our neighbours and on the site which remained operational during the project. Eldred Group has worked with Pacy & Wheatley on previous projects and was satisfied with the contractor’s performance. The company may seek to utilise the team’s services and expertise again in the future should the opportunity arise.

‘We have worked with the Pacy & Wheatley team for a few years now on design and build conversion and renovation projects in and around the Yorkshire area. They offer a professional service, have a good work ethic and form part of our design team involved in the pre-construction and budgetary costings/bid pricing for many of our current projects and planning commitments in the future. Their ethos and culture allow our joint parties to be open and honest, and their set-up and management structure means we always have a clear line of contact and ownership of our schemes. The site teams are always prepared to ensure the build is of the highest standards and quality, with a very flexible approach that offers a continual and improving working relationship.’
Caedmon Homes Director
Minster Care Group
‘Having worked with Pacy & Wheatley Construction over the last four years, Minster Care Group have found them professional, proactive and responsive. Working together with the P&W Team, we have delivered three of our planned New Build Care Home projects throughout the UK, ranging in value from 2M – to 4.0M, totalling 98no additional beds. All projects were on logistically challenging sites and required working around our existing Live care homes. Success was achieved by ensuring an ethos throughout the delivery, which places partnering at the centre of the process. This was evident and ensured our operational outcomes matched the design intention, meaning that the needs of the building’s end users were met in full. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.’

Pacy & Wheatley have worked effortlessly to achieve our goals on our most recent residential scheme in order to provide early access and occupation of a show home and sales area on a ‘Live’ project. All to a very high standard. Great effort and well done to all!!
We are pleased to be able to offer our full support to any employers who wish to consider Pacy & Wheatley for their developments and would highly recommend them. We have no hesitation about continuing and developing our partnership and relationship with this company. Long may it continue; it’s refreshing to be able to talk straight, discuss matters and solutions and ensure the end product remains of the utmost importance at the right budget and within agreed timescales.

I would like to thank Pacy & Wheatley, and especially Derrick and his team, for all the hard work that they have put in over the last 18 months. The various projects completed were not always straightforward under some difficult circumstances, but the team’s professional, positive and productive approach helped us get the result that the college leadership team was looking for from this project.
Please also pass on my thanks to all your subcontractors who at times had to work in difficult circumstances with school exams, Ofsted visits and the student movements around the college, all with minimum disturbance caused to the college’s daily activities and operations.
The project looks great; the quality is also to a very high standard and was finished on program and within budget
Well done to all!

“I wanted to send a quick note following today’s practical completion meeting at Stamford Bridge to thank you and your team for the professional finish and all-around positive WOW experience. Phase 1 started back in 2017 and was completed today, after extensive works across all three floors (including 3 Nr. Assisted Living Flats), and, despite the intrusive nature of the works, especially in Reception and Memory Lane Lounge, there was nothing but praise from the General Manager and Home today, with Staff saying they would miss having the team around”

“Just to say, I was in Mount Vale today, and one of the Residents had some lovely feedback in regards to the WOW team, especially in regards to Pacy & Wheatley’s Site Manager. He stated how ‘professional’ he was, ‘communication was excellent’, and that what a ‘pleasure it has been to have such a dedicated, committed person’. Just thought it was nice to get the positive. The home looks lovely”

“Just a note to say what a fabulous ‘WOW’ the team created at Mount Vale. I was always proud to show people around the home, but now it looks wonderful. The Site Manager for Pacy & Wheatley did a fantastic job here, and I cannot fault his professional attitude to the task. The project was completed within the three-month target even though the Dining Room floor caused unexpected problems. He was always around making sure everything went smoothly, and if there were any problems, they were addressed immediately. I am happy for you to pass on my thanks to him and his team.”

Pacy & Wheatley Construction were proposed by our architects DWA as being a company that delivered. I can heartily say that I fully endorse that sentiment. From the pre-start meeting through to the handover, Pacy & Wheatley acted with the utmost professionalism. They delivered a product of the highest quality within my budget and on time despite extreme weather conditions. Design changes introduced during the build cycle were handled promptly and efficiently with helpful input from site management and the project team. Carebase management and our residents are delighted with our new care facility. I would have no hesitation in using Pacy & Wheatley in the future.

The project had to remain ‘business as usual’ for the patients throughout the period. This brought some major challenges whilst walls were knocked down, a lift installed, and a new building erected. My liaison with the on-site foreman and the project manager ensured that disruption was kept to a minimum. I was kept informed of progress throughout the project, and after completion, the project manager ensured all issues had been addressed.

“I wanted to send this email to thank you and your whole team for the exceptional management and work at Mount Vale throughout the WOW project. I think that your whole team, with their strong work ethic, attention to detail and sensitivity to the needs and culture of our Care Home, did Pacy & Wheatley great credit and produced an exceptional output, with a wholesale refurb of the ground floor, partial first floor and creation of 2 superb new rooms along the way. Issues were resolved with minimal disruption to the home and absorbed within the programme through adapting phasing and increasing the workforce to compensate. In addition, Pacy & Wheatley made relationships with staff and residents (leading to two separate feedback emails from Barchester staff) and thoroughly supported home operations from working out of hours when needed, moving furniture around the home and supporting the fit-out”

The Pacy & Wheatley team assigned to building our brand new ‘state of the art’ Sixth Form building was extremely professional throughout. It can be difficult working in an area where there are a large number of young people, but they were very conscientious regarding the safety of both pupils and staff. The quality of workmanship and adherence to the construction schedule meant that we were delighted with the finished project. We would recommend Pacy & Wheatley without reservation to anyone contemplating undertaking such a project.

Some positive feedback following my visit to the Pacy & Wheatley site. Of particular interest was the specific use of the ‘point of work’ risk assessments used by your site manager, Michael Collins. Such work often falls outside of a contractor/subcontractor-specific risk assessment/method statement, and it is useful to know that your company has a procedure for dealing with this situation.
