Non-disruptive extension for Cygnet Hospital, Harrow

Pacy & Wheatley Construction are delighted to share a recently completed project in Harrow, London. We were approached by Cygnet Healthcare, a client we have worked with on several occasions, to design and build a complex healthcare extension.
Cygnet Hospital Harrow provide a recovery-focused service for people with a wide range of mental health problems. They offer specialistic, diagnostic and inpatient services for men and women, supporting individuals to return to the community as quickly as possible. Cygnet Hospital Harrow provide such an important service, so it was imperative that they remained completely undisrupted whilst we were commencing work.
Our client wanted to create an extra 16 beds at the hospital, so various extensions were needed to match the existing building's facades. We had to take the structure back to masonry shells and fit a complete overhaul of M&E installations, including robust specialist doors, furniture and anti-ligature window systems.
However, it wasn't as straight forward the team imagined. The access to the site was incredibly tight through a narrow single carriageway, so it was critical to obtain cooperation of our key sub-contractors and supply chain to produce detailed logistics and delivery plans. By providing a temporary haul road, site compound and alternative secure routes, we were able to complete our work with no interruptions to the hospital patients and staff.
We were delighted that, through careful planning, the project was completed with all planning conditions met and satisfied in a timely manner. The finished project provides patients with 16 new beds, new therapy and activity rooms, a new orangery and new offices for staff.
