Secretary of State’s letter to the construction industry

If, like Pacy & Wheatley, you work in the construction sector you'll be experiencing some changes to your daily shifts. With social distancing measures in place, it may be difficult to finish your tasks with as much efficiency as usual and you may be feeling frustrated with the new limitations.

Of course, we all know that these measures are designed to limit the spread of the virus, keep as many of us healthy and protect the NHS. For many industries that means complete lockdown, but the Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, Alok Sharma, recently wrote a letter to everyone in the construction industry advising that continuing to work was okay to do. The construction industry is a huge and vital part of the British and world-wide society and contributes a great deal to the economy each year, so it's crucial that it remains in action.

Without the dedication and hard work from everyone in the industry, vital healthcare, educational and residential infrastructure would not be completed. We'd like to join Mr Sharma in thanking all those in the construction industry, helping to provide new, safe hospitals in the current crisis:

"Thank you again to everyone operating in the UK construction sector. You are making a hugely valued and critical contribution to the resilience of our Nation and I salute you for the enormous efforts you are individually undertaking to support the UK economy."
