York acquires a multi-million-pound health and wellbeing campus

We are thrilled to announce that we were recently tasked with the design and build of a brand new care home facility. The property needed to accommodate 80 beds, complete with en-suites and a variety of luxury features including: a cinema, spa rooms and even a hair salon, along with large open communal areas. These facilities will allow residents to relax and spend quality time with their families and visitors.

The project provided several challenges to tackle throughout the build. For example, construction occurred near residential areas with vulnerable populations including young individuals. As such, it was essential that noise and heavy machinery was kept to a minimum and any loud activities and development traffic were to be planned in advance. We worked closely with City of York Council to ensure that levels of disruption could be minimised.

As well as numerous entertainment facilities the £7m valued project also includes a commercial kitchen and multiple dining spaces. The new build achieved a fantastic BREEAM rating and has a minimum level of impact on the local environment. This is due to the innovative incorporation of green roofs, bird boxes and LED lighting.

The care home has now been praised by locals and is perfectly positioned to provide for the care needs of a wide range of individuals. Known as 'The Residence' it is a key element of the planned programme of development by City of York Council. This will include everything from a sports facility to new pitches and a fresh library.
