Project Description

Pacy & Wheatley have recently completed a care home construction project in Brent Cross, London. This included the design and build of a new, 8-bed extension, internal alterations and upgrades to form an additional 2 beds internally all with en-suite bathrooms. We were instructed to match existing building facilities and meet the local planning authority requirements. The structure was largely built using timber frame construction methods, and the interiors included a range of facilities to assist in the care services required by Barchester. Part of the project involved constructing a new activity day space, communal areas, servery, and private dining area, with associated external works including reconfiguration and improvement to the visitor car park and additional spaces The resulting facility complements the existing and surrounding areas perfectly whilst increasing capacity and forming a more modern care home facility for the residents.

The Challenge

There were several challenges to overcome with the project. Firstly there are residential areas located around the site’s boundary requiring third-party agreements and additional funding and deals with joint owners.

As a Considerate Contractor, Pacy & Wheatley ensured we were beyond compliant with the scheme’s guidelines. All plant and machinery used and site noise were kept to minimum with the assurance that any loud activities were properly planned and managed to reduce disturbance to all, including the existing residents.

The site team were also required to ensure the utmost safety and security throughout the duration of the project, giving careful consideration to the site’s neighbours and residents.

The Solution & Key Achievements

As a competent and progressive design and build contractor, Pacy & Wheatley overcame the challenges of the scheme by using their dedicated site and office team who ensured full cooperation with all stakeholders.

Our open and proactive approach has meant any potential problems were dealt with head-on and in advance of any programme implications, thereby ensuring all parties involved were left satisfied with our work.
