Project Description
Pacy & Wheatley completed an education construction project for a primary school in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. The project included a single storey extension which allowed for the existing primary school to accommodate for an additional 210 students: with 7 new classrooms, integral stores, a studio hall, separate group rooms, cleaning stores, boys’ and girls’ toilets, communal spaces and cloakroom(s). Our works also incorporated a durable hard play area and extra parking spaces for staff, parents and visitors.
The Challenge
The major challenge that the site team faced was ensuring the segregation of our works and the existing primary school users, however, through intricate planning prior to beginning on site a clear and precise action plan was created, agreed and distributed to all relevant parties.
The Solution & Key Achievements
All Contractor Design Portions of the JCT contract works were completed with early involvement of our supply chain partners in order to ensure a coordinated design with the client design team.
We ensured all deliveries were made in a coordinated and timely manner so as not to affect the day to day activities of the school and segregation was maintained at all times.
Pacy & Wheatley provided additional services at the school assembly and had a special visit from Ivor Goodsite in accord with our Considerate Contractors Scheme and company ethos.
Our teams worked tirelessly with the school, Lincolnshire Council representatives and their appointed Kier Project Manager to ensure the project was delivered on time and under budget.
A quality end product was achieved via cooperation, good planning and management and the use of our regular supply chain partners and great teamwork.
