The Project
Pacy & Wheatley Construction, leading experts in healthcare construction projects, have recently completed the Helicpad construction project at Sheffield Children's Hospital. The work included erecting a new complex steel frame and cladding structure, which houses two new lifts and a plant room with new fire escape stairs that take you to the main building. The steel bridge structure will be installed from the extended lift core onto the Stephenson Building roof for the new purpose-built helicopter pad. Construction of two new fire escape staircases from the helicopter pad level to the Stephenson’s block was also completed, along with the installation of a cladded façade to the rooftop of the hospital, a new lift/stair tower and a bridge.
Well done to our Projects Manager, Steve Shaw, Quantity Surveyor Charlotte Wheatley, Site Manager Duncan Henderson, and his site team for their hard work and commitment to what was a challenging project both logistically and from a health and safety perspective. Our interiors team also worked on this project, completing an interior fit out to allow access from the helipad into the hospital.
