Interior Refurbishment, Hartlepool

- Project Value: c £325,000
Pacy and Wheatley completed a Healthcare Refurbishment project in Hartlepool which included extensive remodelling, new mechanical and electrical installation works and refurbishment of an existing hospice to form a new eight bed care home. In addition to bedrooms fitted with hoists & level access ensuites, the building works included the installation of a Hydropool / Jacuzzi, external access ramps & landscaping works. Restoration works were completed to the facade of the building to maintain some of the original building features.
The hospice was on a residential road with neighbours at both sides in close proximity. Due to the significant amount of works on site and number of contractors required space was at a premium, making deliveries and access difficult. The contract was carried out on a cost plus basis, therefore tight financial management and close communication with our clients Q.S was essential. A number of the buildings original features were to be protected, maintained and in some cases refurbished.
Forward planned delivery times and arrangements were essential to ensure no disruptions to the neighbours or residents. Good site management enabled the project to proceed as planned with no complaints or issues.
Regular financial meetings and routine cost updates with our client’s surveyor were held to keep the client informed at all stages of costs and financial aspects of the project. Specialist contractors were employed to carry out refurbishment works to the existing stained glass window, the weathered stone front elevation and existing internal plaster cornice and covings.
Works were carried out to bring the existing features back to their original glory in readiness for the new finishes and internal fit out.
The end product was very well received by our client and the staff. In particular the attention to detail and workmanship in restoring the original features that had suffered after years of weather and minimal maintenance.
We achieved the safe completion of the project with no reportable accidents in what was a very busy and tight site, with a substantial amount of works in all areas of the building.
We have procured Design & Build services of Pacy & Wheatley for a number of our projects and developed a working relationship with partnering principles at it’s core. We have found their approach professional and positive and would not hesitate to involve them in future projects.
