Project Description
Pacy & Wheatley were appointed on a negotiated cost basis to carry out the interior refurbishment to the department of works and pensions located at Askew Road, West London. The building where the offices were located, whilst in a decent condition, was very dated with only basic operational maintenance being carried out to keep the building in a workable condition. The office space we refurbished comprised of 3 floors and whilst works were ongoing the staff were still carrying out their daily duties which meant the works had to be coordinated in such a way that we were working in offices and on floors where the staff were not working. This meant that we commenced works on the top floor working down to the ground floor and ensuring that the onsite staff had adequate office space available to be able to work effectively whilst our works were in progress. The total project was carried out over a 7 week period and health and safety were of paramount importance which resulted in zero accidents. Although a tight programme, the project was handed over on time, on budget, with zero defects and to the total satisfaction of the client.
The Solution
The solution achieved has resulted in a brighter, more user-friendly working environment for both the staff and general public, designed and completed to the agreed specification. The Department of Works and Pensions and the managing agents ( Wates smart space ) were both highly delighted with the end result, commenting that the newly refurbished office area is now a modern functional facility and totally fit for purpose.
