Care Home Extension, London
Posted on 2 December 2021
Pacy & Wheatley have completed a care home extension in London for our client Barchester Healthcare. The 8-bed extension was a new construction, and the project also included internal alterations and upgrades of the existing building to create two additional beds. All of the new bedrooms also feature ensuite bathrooms. Largely using timber frame construction methods, we constructed a new activity day space, communal areas, servery, and dining space. We additionally worked on the reconfiguration of exterior facilities, such as car parking.
We were tasked with matching the new facilities to the existing building, as well as meeting planning requirements. This project required the navigation of several challenges, including building in a residential area and negotiating third-party agreements. We are a Considerate Contractor and took every step available to comply with the scheme's guidelines. We strove to keep noise as low as possible and reduce disturbance where it wasn't possible to reduce noise. Safety and security were also priorities during this care home design and construction project. The safety of residents and neighbours was taken into account at all times.
Our dedicated site and office team took the necessary steps to keep all stakeholders involved. As always, we used a proactive approach to deal with any issues quickly and effectively, and avoid facing any delays. Pacy & Wheatley have over 50 years of experience in design and build services, and work to make sure that everyone involved with a project gets the results they need.
